I aim to ensure that your event succeeds, and my approach is simple.
Discover: What is important to your audience and your organization?
Develop: A custom presentation or story to support your goals.
Deliver: An address that informs, inspires, and entertains your audience.
I am not one of those super-heroes who jumped out of planes or climbed mountains. I was born to a family of very modest means in a small working-class town. And I was born with a severe visual impairment which ultimately turned to total blindness as a result of an accident while playing basketball. In short, my story of self-discovery and transformation is like the stories of many, perhaps most, of the people who will be in your audience. The only difference is that I had to deal with some unusual circumstances along the way. Some were extremely challenging and difficult to manage—like losing my eyesight over a twelve-hour period or having to explain to my kids why people were staring at us in the mall. Others were just plain weird—like having to help a well-educated San Francisco Bay Area commuter understand that my guide dog could not actually read the destination signs mounted in the front window of each oncoming train. And other circumstances were downright funny—like the time I demonstrated the power of “the Domino Effect” with several hundred cans of hair spray during a very well-attended sidewalk sale taking place just off campus from where I was trying to be cool and fit in. I also promise to tell the story of how I managed to fly an actual plane in the actual sky over an actual town in Massachusetts.
It is my story with all of its twists and turns that has led me to the life of purpose and success that I now enjoy, and it’s my desire to share it with your audience so that they can recognize their own potential for engaging with you, your organization, your mission and your story.
